TURA, June 13 - After more than a week without electricity, the town of Phulbari in West Garo Hills finally got a replacement transformer to ensure a smoother flow of electricity in the town. An 11KV transformer had caught fire on June 2 last leading to some parts of the plain belt going with rationed electricity including Phulbari, Chibinang amongst others.

The damage had been limited due to swift action taken by the Meghalaya Fire and Emergency Services.

The people in the area also began a desperate attempt to restore the power supply that forced the local MLA and Speaker Abu Taher Mondal to take appropriate action in this regard.
