BARPETA, Sept 25 - The Tihu-Lachima road which is said to be the lifeline for the people of Barpeta and Tihu, is now in a deplorable shape. Despite repeated complaints from various quarters, the authorities concerned have failed to take appropriate steps causing disappointment among the residents. The road connects Sarthebari in Barpeta district with Tihu for which the commuters use the road.
Another important aspect is that, the road plays a key role in increasing volume of business as most of the traders use the road for carrying their goods. We are facing severe hardships while carrying goods, and, therefore the State PWD should take urgent steps to repair the road, a section of businessmen who did not wish to be named told this correspondent. They added that if the road is not repaired early, then business will be affected.
It is learnt that disappointed with the inaction from the authorities concerned, a section of concerned citizens submitted a memorandum to the State PWD Minister, but in vain. This is an important road for the people of Barpeta and Tihu, so the State Government should accord priority to repair the road as early as possible, they claimed.
