UDALGURI, Nov 29 - With the first phase of BTC elections just round the corner, all the political parties have intensified their campaign with an intention to woo the voters.
Today, Congress leaders from Guwahati visited some border villages in Udalguri region falling under the 38 Bhairabkunda constituency.
Nurul Huda, MLA and general secretary of APCC along with Ram Prasad Sarmah, former LSMP and now a Congress leader with Congress candidate Prodeep Kumar Daimary inaugurated the election office at Khowrang Chowk while they attended two election rallies in Mahendrapur village and Coramore Tea Estate and tried to convince the voters by spewing venom on the BJP, BPF and UPPL by claiming that all these rivals of the Congress are trying to befool the innocent voters with false promises.
Meanwhile, UPPL activists and supporters brought out a motorcycle rally with its Harisinga candidate Sanjay Daimari and UPPL chief Promod Boro and also attended a membership drive at Belochiburi Adivasi village under Harisinga constituency and Nalbari under Dhansiri constituency.
On the other hand, Health, PWD and Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma along with LSMPs Dilip Saikia and Pallav Lochan Das attended a huge congregation at Phuhurabari village playground under Dhansiri constituency for its candidate Radheswari Boro and promised to bring all-round development in the region before the Assembly election. He also assured that the much-talked-about Udalguri Rowta Road would be completed by December 20 next.
Meanwhile, former BTC chief Hagrama Mohilary is reported to have been camping in Dhansiri and Rowta areas and attending closed door meetings with certain linguistic communities.
It may be mentioned here that a total of 3,23,703 voters of five constituencies falling under Udalguri subdivision would decide the fate of 32 candidates belonging to various political parties.
