Poacher escapes from custody

KAZIRANGA, May 14 - One rhino poacher Akhtar Ali who was arrested on May 9 last for his involvement in the killing of a rhino in December, 2018 in Bagori, escaped from the custody ( lockup) of Bagori range office under Kaziranga National Park today.

Informing this correspondent, sources in the Forest department said that Akhtar Ali was supposed to provide some vital information about the involvement of some other persons in rhino poaching today.

Kaziranga DFO Rohini Saikia said that an inquiry had been ordered to ascertain the facts leading to escape of the poacher. He said that an ACF had been asked to carry out the inquiry.
