Plan for 8 model polling stations

JALUKBARI, March 22 - As per the guidelines of the Election Commission of India and in compliance with the instructions of the Supreme Court of India, the Kamrup Election District has planned to transform altogether eight polling station buildings into model polling stations across the four Legislative Assembly constituencies under its jurisdiction in the ensuing Assembly election.

At these model polling stations a voter can avail special facilities and amenities. The district election authority has already instructed the officials concerned to physically verify the selected polling stations and take adequate measures for this purpose.

Mineral water along with disposable glasses, proper lighting with generator facility, separate toilets for men and women, sitting arrangements for elderly, infirm and physically challenged voters, separate covered sitting sheds for pregnant and lactating women, a level approaching ramp having a wide entrance and exit from the polling booth, proper signage showing the route, location, layout, BLO�s help desk for locating the names in the voters� list are the facilities which will be available for voters at these polling stations on the day of polling.
