JORHAT, Nov 4 � PK Borthakur, assumed office as Director (Offshore) of ONGC on October 30. Borthakur has formally taken over the operational responsibility of the prestigious role from Sudhir Vasudeva, CMD, ONGC.
Having a professional experience of 35 years with ONGC, Borthakur has spent 24 years at the helm of various sections and groups in the organisation.
Prior to his movement to Delhi Corporate Office, Brothakur spent 14 years at the Mumbai Offshore fields. He was the Asset Manager of the famed and prolific Mumbai High, the biggest oil field in India and among one of the largest in the world, from November 2011.
Notable among his achievements during his tenure leading Mumbai High were the commissioning of MHN Complex, Deployment of Rigs on new/old platforms to drill wells in Basal Clastics and Basement, and Acceleration of Marginal Field Development Programmes.
Subsequently, he shouldered the responsibility of Asset Manager of Bassein and Satellite for three and a half years where he oversaw the production, maintenance and development of biggest gas field in India located at Mumbai Offshore. During this period, gas production increased from 27.59 MMSCMD to 32.87 MMSCMD (19%) and oil production increased from 0.46 MMT to 1.07 MMT.
