GUWAHATI, Dec 1 - The Kamrup Metro district administration has warned individuals or organisations not to undertake any kind of activities which are prohibited under the Guwahati Water Bodies (Preservation and Conservation) Act, 2008.
Kamrup Metro Deputy Commissioner Dr M Angamuthu told The Assam Tribune today that people have been asked to desist from filling up of water bodies which may cause damage or reduce the size of the water bodies, construct or erect any permanent or temporary structure in the water bodies or dump solid waste or garbage on them.
�Legal action will be initiated against any violation of the Act, which is punishable with an imprisonment of up to three years or with fine,� he said.
He also urged citizens to report any such instances of violations to the district administration.
