Passport office in Imphal soon

IMPHAL, May 22 � Manipur Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam today said that the State will soon have visa on arrival facilities besides opening a regional Passport office here.

Speaking on the occasion of a flag off ceremony of �Mission Myanmar� of Shija Hospitals and Research Institute at Langol here on Wednesday, Gaikhangam said that the State Government has identified the site for the office and the concerned officials will be sent to undergo necessary training.

He added that Visa on arrival facilities will be provided to Myanmarese citizens seeking medical treatment, at Moreh, the border town of Manipur, once Centre gives the approval.

Presently, 85 Myanmarese were undergoing medical treatment in Manipur�s Shija Hospitals, a private hospital here.

Meanwhile, a 12 member medical team will be heading to Monywa, capital city of Myanmar�s Saigang division bordering Manipur to render free corrective surgeries to cleft lip and cleft palate patients from May 24-28.

The team will conduct as many as 100 surgeries during their maiden goodwill visit.

In the meantime to discuss trade, health tourism, investment and power sharing with Myanmar, Manipur Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh led 40 member state delegation is also scheduled to attend 2 days North East India-Myanmar Business Summit from May 28-29 at Monywa.
