Passenger train derails, service temporarily affected

GUWAHATI, Sept 6 - Train services in the Lumding-Silchar section was temporarily affected this afternoon following derailment of the engine and the SLR coach of the 13172 Agartala-Sealdah Kanchanjunga Express at a spot between Jatinga Lampur and New Haflong at Dima Hasao.

Pranav Jyoti Sharma, Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) of NFR, said the incident took place at around 3 pm after a buffalo dashed against the train.

However, nobody was injured in the incident.

NFR rescue and repair teams rushed to the spot and the derailed engine and SLR were put back on the track at around 5.45 pm, following which the Kanchanjunga Express resumed its journey.

Normal train services in the section were restored later.
