Parties suspend all activities for three days

GUWAHATI, Nov 23 - Former Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi�s popularity among people holding diverse political ideologies became evident after his demise with most of the major political parties, including the ruling BJP, suspending all their political activities and organisational events, including the election campaign for the BTC polls, for three days beginning from tomorrow.

State BJP president Ranjeet Kumar Dass has directed suspension of all party activities, including public meetings, across the State for three days till November 26 as a mark of respect to the departed veteran leader.

The Congress party has suspended all organisational activities, including campaigning for the BTC elections, for the next three days as a mark of respect for the veteran leader, State Congress president Ripun Bora said.

Gogoi was a member of the Congress party for over five decades. The organisational flag will fly at half mast at all Congress party offices across Assam during next three days.

AGP president Atul Bora also announced suspension of all party programmes from November 24 to 26.

The AIUDF has also decided to suspend all organisational activities for three days.
