GUWAHATI, June 9 � Police today took into custody over a hundred SPOs who had come to the city to stage protest against non-fulfilment of their long-pending demands.
The SPOs, some of whom had also brought their family members, were taken into custody by the police after they reached the Guwahati Railway Station here by train and taken to the Panbazar police station.
The SPOs and their families resorted to slogan shouting on the police station premises. Senior police officials held talks with them and tried to calm the situation.
Later, they were allowed to leave from the place.
The SPOs, especially in Dima Hasao district, have been in a confrontation with the police over the last few days to press for their demands that also include regularization of their service.
