GAURIPUR, Nov 1 - Under the auspices of Om Prakash Todi Memorial Trust, the death anniversary of the teacher- journalist and PTI correspondent from Dhubri, Om Prakash Todi was observed today at the premises of Lions Club here. Ceremonial lighting of lamps and floral tributes were paid by the president of the trust. The memorial meet held on the occasion was chaired by Dr Pratima Neogi, president of the Trust.
The meet was attended by Anantalal Gyani, Deputy Commissioner of Dhubri as chief guest. In his speech, the Deputy Commissioner appreciated the efforts of the trust for organising such a memorial meet for highlighting the contributions of the deceased journalist. Dharmendra Prasad, Suresh Harlalka, Dr Dhruba Chakraborty and Bijoy Kumar Sharma also addressed the meet. On the occasion, senior journalist Ambu Nath Sharma was accorded Lifetime Award for Reporting and promising poet S Das was accorded a warm felicitation.
Manali Sarkar and her troupe presented a Goalpariya folk song. A souvenir edited jointly by Bijoy Sharma and Dr Pratima Neogi was released by the Deputy Commissioner. Educational iteams were distributed among the lower primary schoolchildren. Saplings of valuable trees were planted earlier to mark the death anniversary of the journalist at different locations of Dhubri town.
