TURA, Dec 27 - National People�s Party (NPP) has announced the younger brother, SG Esmatur Mominin (Rahibul) of deceased former Minister from Phulbari Manirul Islam Sarkar to contest the Assembly elections next year.
Rahibul is the MDC from Shyamnagar in Garo Hills Autonomous District Council.
The death of Manirul, who was a front runner for the seat, has as a huge blow to NPP. More than 25,000 people were present at the funeral ceremony of Manirul.
The announcement of Rahibul as NPP candidate was made recently by party president, Conrad K Sangma, MP of Tura. Rahibul is a lawyer by profession.
