MORIGAON, Oct 10 � A no-confidence motion was raised against the CEM of Tiwa Autonomous Council (TAC), Ramakanta Deuri by 17 members of the council in a meeting held at Morigaon TAC office today.
However, Rakesh Kumar, Deputy Commissioner, Morigaon, who was the observer in the meeting, said that there was a Gauhati High Court injunction to convene the meeting today and as such there would be no implementation of today�s no-confidence motion till another general meeting of the council.
Meanwhile, protesting the intervention in TAC�s affairs by ruling party�s ministers, the All Tiwa Students� Union and Tiwa Yuva Chatra Parishad called a 12-hour central Assam bandh today from 5 am, evoking total response in Morigaon and parts of Nagaon and Kamrup (Metro) districts. The bandh supporters damaged several private vehicles by pelting stones, at Jagiroad, Nellie and Kathiatoli.
