Update: 2010-09-15 00:00 GMT

GUWAHATI, April 7 - Touch of Humanity, a Guwahati-based NGO that provides free rides to blood donors in the city, has been allowed by the district administration to carry such donors to the hospital during the lockdown period.

Hirakjyoti Bora, founder president of Touch of Humanity, said, At the present time the number of blood donations has drastically come down due to implementation of social distancing and cancellation of blood donation drives. Those interested in donating blood may contact us on phone number 7002595970 or can reach us on the email: touchofhumanity076@gmail.com.

The NGO has been providing free rides to blood donors since November last year.

There is a shortage of blood donors due to the ongoing lockdown, so we have decided to encourage people towards blood donation. The district administration has allowed us to carry donors without violating norms of the lockdown, Bora said.
