NFR official inspects Lumding-Silchar line

GUWAHATI, Nov 1 - Newly appointed general manager of the Northeast Frontier Railway Construction Organisation Harjeet Kumar Jaggi conducted a window trailing inspection of the newly converted Lumding-Silchar broad gauge line earlier this week.

Jaggi inspected works at several bridges, retaining walls, station buildings and gave instructions to complete all unfinished works, said an official statement.

He also inspected the tunnel No. 10 near New Haflong station and station buildings of Badarpur and Silchar. He also had a meeting with the president of the BJP�s Dima Hasao district committee at Haflong and discussed issues relating to railway development in the district.

At Badarpur, Jaggi received a memorandum from Radheshyam Biswas, Lok Sabha MP from Karimganj. At Silchar, he held discussions with Silchar MP Sushmita Deb and State Excise and Sports Minister Ajit Singh regarding starting of passenger services from Silchar to rest of India and other rail-related issues.

Jaggi was accompanied by senior officials during the inspection drive.
