GUWAHATI, Oct 2 - Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) General Manager Sanjive Roy held a discussion here earlier this week with the Members of Parliament (MPs) from constituencies within the jurisdiction of Lumding Division.
Guwahati and nearby areas also fall under the Lumding Division of NFR.
The discussion was attended by Lok Sabha MP from Mangaldoi constituency Ramen Deka, Lok Sabha MP from Tripura (East) constituency Jitendra Choudhury, Lok Sabha MP from Inner Manipur constituency Dr Thokchom Meinya, Rajya Sabha MP from Nagaland KG Kenye and Rajya Sabha MP from Manipur K Bhabananda Singh, apart from senior railway officials.
A brief presentation on various activities and achievements of the division was presented by Lumding Division's Divisional Railway Manager Ashish Sharma.
During the interaction, Deka requested the NFR to take steps for proper development of railway infrastructure in the Rangiya-Dekargaon section. He also requested the NFR for providing stoppage of all Rajdhani Express trains at Rangiya and all Mail and Express trains at Nalbari and Udalguri stations as these are district headquarters.
Deka called for ensuring proper cleanliness at small stations like Khairabari and Udalguri.
Choudhury, on his part, called for proper connectivity to all stations in the Agartala-Subroom section. He also asked for providing proper passenger amenities in all stations in that route. He requested stoppage of the Rajdhani Express train at Ambasa station.
Dr Meinya suggested that the Railways should have inbuilt security mechanisms to facilitate early completion of all ongoing works which are getting delayed due to security reasons.
Kenye spoke about the present security arrangement in place in the NFR zone and demanded improvement in amenities at Dimapur station.
He also enquired about the ongoing Dimapur-Zubza project which is likely to be completed by October 2021. Kenye suggested painting all trains with beautiful landscape of the North East to further improve the tourism potential of the region.
In his concluding remarks, Roy assured the MPs that NFR would make all effort for providing the best services.
He said the entire NFR zone is now free from all un-manned level crossings and that toilets all over the zone are being developed to the best standards to spruce up cleanliness on railway premises.
