GUWAHATI, Oct 13 - Noted agricultural scientist Dr Bidyut Chandan Deka has been appointed as the new vice chancellor of Assam Agricultural University (AAU).
The 56-year-old Deka was serving as the director of the ICAR-Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute (ATARI) at Umiam in Meghalaya since 2016.
The previous vice chancellor Dr KM Bujarbarua had retired in July 2019. Since then, the work of the vice chancellor was being looked after by Dr Ashok Bhattacharjee, Director of Research (agriculture) at the university.
