AGARTALA, March 25 � Devanand Konwar, former Bihar Governor, was sworn in as new Governor of Tripura at a simple ceremony at Raj Bhavan here on Monday.
Chief Justice Deepak Gupta administered the oath of office and secrecy to the Governor. Chief Minister Manik Sarkar, his Cabinet colleagues, Chief Secretary SK Panda, DGP Sanjay Sinha and top officials were present at the ceremony.
Soon after the swearing in ceremony, the Governor said he would work for peace, welfare and prosperity of the people of the State.
The Chief Minister, who opposed the way the new Governor was appointed, said it�s good to have Konwar as new Governor.
