New mortuary inaugurated at TMCH

TEZPUR, Sept 13 - The long-pending demand for a mortuary was finally fulfilled after it was opened at the Tezpur Medical College and Hospital (TMCH) in a ceremonial function held on Tuesday.

It may be mentioned that earlier the people had to depend on the Kanaklata Civil Hospital for the mortuary.

The opening ceremony was attended by Dr RK Kalita, Principal-cum-Chief Superintendent, TMCH, Dr NC Bhattacharya, former Principal-cum-Chief Superintendent, TMCH, Prithi Pal Singh, SP, Sonitpur, Dr ALM Ahmed, Medical Superintendent, TMCH, Dr HK Mahanta, Head of the Department of Forensic Medicine and Technologies, among others.

Addressing the gathering as chief guest, Dr NC Bhattacharya spoke on the importance of the newly-inaugurated mortuary and how it would benefit both the common people of the region and the students of the medical college.

SP, Sonitpur, PP Singh in his speech urged both the students and the medical professionals to accept the medical service as an equipment of highest service to the society. Earlier, the principal of the medical college in his welcome address spoke in details about the mortuary.
