New health insurance scheme in Manipur likely

IMPHAL, Oct 7 - Manipur is planning to introduce a new health insurance scheme to benefit the poor and needy people. This was stated by Chief Minister N Biren Singh at a programme today. In this context, he appealed to the medical fraternity to extend all possible help to the poor people.

He was speaking at the inaugural session of the 22nd annual Conference of the Association of Surgeons of India, Manipur State Chapter (ASIMANICON � 2017) at Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) here.

The Chief Minister stated that the State Government would not tolerate any harassment meted out to the health personnel and damage to medical properties.

As suggested by some doctors, the Government would consider enactment of an Act which would protect medical personnel and properties soon.

He also expressed the hope that the outcome of the conference would help in policy formation of the Government. The CM also assured that he would try to improve infrastructure in the health sector so that common man can reap the benefits.
