New dental college at AMCH commences maiden course

DIBRUGARH, Sept 6 - The newly-established Government Dental College at Assam Medical College and Hospital (AMCH) campus here commenced its maiden course for Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) on Tuesday with an orientation session for the first batch of students.

The Government of Assam had recently announced setting up of two dental colleges at Dibrugarh and Silchar.

Following the approval by the Dental Council of India, the Government Dental College here got off on September 4 with its five-year BDS course at the new lecture hall of AMCH with an intake of 50 students.

The classes for the course will be conducted at the new lecture hall and at Graham Bazar till the new dental college building at AMC campus is ready. The college has all the required equipment, infrastructure and teaching staff to conduct the course, Dr Nilotpal Das, Registrar of the new college told The Assam Tribune.
