GUWAHATI, Jan 13 - The newly elected Assam Cricket Association (ACA) office bearers met Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal at the Brahmaputra Guest House here today.
The Chief Minister advised the ACA to take cricket to the Panchayat level and restructure the cricket competitions in the State so that maximum youth are attracted towards the game. He also urged the ACA to develop more cricket grounds and has assured full support.
On a request by the new secretary Devajit Saikia to revive cricket activities in Nehru Stadium here, the Chief Minister appreciated the idea and assured him support in this regard. The ACA will soon submit a formal proposal to the government for bringing back cricket activities in Nehru Stadium which will also create space for two football pitches instead of the one at present.
