National conference on NE growth

GUWAHATI, Dec 12 - The Multicultural Educational Development Trust (MEDT) and the Association for Environment and Development Research (AEDR) will organise a conference on �Paradigm of development in the North-east with special reference to Assam: The India-ASEAN Free Trade Agreement� on December 15, at the Institute of Engineers Building, Panbazar here, stated a press release.

The main objective of the conference is to critically evaluate the paradigm shift in development of the region with special reference to Assam in channelling the region to a path of rapid growth and sustainable development.

Hitendra Nath Goswami, Speaker, Assam Legislative Assembly, will inaugurate the conference.

Prof Naushad Ali Azad, Jamia Milia Islamia University, Ashutosh Agnihotri, Commissioner and Secretary, Industry and Commerce, Government of Assam, Krishnacharya Barua, Director, NEILIT, Union Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, Jogen Borpujari, Executive Director, IOCL, Prof Manoj Pant, JNU, Abhijit Bezbarua of the North East IT Association, Prof Sanjay Barbora, Tata Institute of Social Science, Guwahati, Prof Gautam Dutta, IIFT, Kolkata, Prof Alokesh Barua, School of International Studies, JNU, among others will take part in the conference.

An e-journal titled �mahabahoo.com� will also be launched on the occasion.
