NEW DELHI, March 24 � Hemanta Kumar Das�s Othello has bagged the National Award for the best Assamese feature film, while Orong by Suraj Kumar Duwarah has been adjudged the best Rava film.
Produced by Artha Films, Othello won the Rajat Kamal Award for its tangential evocation of Shakespeare�s play as it explores mistrust and prejudice in a society ridden with political turmoil. The award carries a cash reward of Rs 1 lakh each to the producer and the director of the film.
Orong has been awarded for its sensitive portrayal of a young man, as he drifts through a life that offers little promise or excitement.
