Narayan Chandra Goswami cremated with State honours at Majuli

JORHAT, Aug 12 - The last rites of Satradhikar of Majuli�s Sri Sri Natun Kamalabari Satra and an erudite Vaishnavite scholar Narayan Chandra Goswami was performed with full State honours at the premises of the satra in the river island today.

Policemen blew bugles and fired in the air as part of the honours. Majuli Deputy Commissioner Bikram Kairi offered floral wreaths on the body of Goswami. Officer on Special Duty, Dr Prakash Kashyap as representative of the Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal offered tributes to the departed soul.

Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra Samaj Secretary Sudarshan Thakur, Majuli Superintendent of Police Arpana Natarajan, Satradhikar of Kamalabari Satra Janardan Devagoswami, representatives of various organisations and satras, and well-wishers of the late satradhikar were also present.

Pupils of the Sri Sri Natun Kamalabari Satra also bid farewell to the satradhikar by carrying out cultural rituals.
