Nagaland gearing up for Lok Sabha bypoll

DIMAPUR, May 21 - Nagaland is gearing up for bypoll to Nagaland Parliamentary constituency slated for May 28. Counting of votes will be done on May 31.

Nagaland Commissioner and Returning Officer for the bypoll Motsuthung Patton said the general observers, Dr J Ravishankar and Manabendra Chakravarty, have arrived in the State. Political parties, candidates and general public may contact them for any election related matter, he said.

Meanwhile, Mon district magistrate K Thavaseelan has issued an order prohibiting the carrying of licensed arms/weapons within the jurisdiction of the district with immediate effect and till completion of the election process to ensure the conduct of peaceful, free and fair bypoll and maintenance of public order.
