Musical tribute to VD Paluskar

GUWAHATI, Aug 19 - Students of Raagaloy Sangeet Mahavidyalaya, Guwahati, will pay a musical tribute to eminent classical vocalist and teacher Pandit Vishnu Digambar Paluskar on his 84th death anniversary on August 21 at the District Library auditorium here.

Paluskar founded the Gandharva Mahavidyalaya in Lahore way back in 1901, to enable common people to learn classical music.

During the first half of the day, the permanent campus of Raagaloy will be inaugurated at its Pub Sarania complex. In the evening, as a tribute to the maestro, a programme of classical music will be held at the District Library auditorium. Eminent classical music artiste Shiben Bannerjee will be the chief guest, while Amarendra Chakraborty from Silchar will be the guest of honour.

Noted tabla player Paban Bordoloi will be felicitated on the occasion. Students of the institution will present songs in the programme in Paluskar�s memory, stated a press release.
