NEW DELHI, Aug 14 - NSCN (I-M) general secretary Th Muivah urged the Government of India to settle at the �earliest time� the impasse over a separate constitution and flag.
In a day marked by confusion over the fate of the formal dialogue between the Naga underground groups and Government of India�s interlocutor and Nagaland Governor RN Ravi, scheduled today, the NSCN (I-M) cadres celebrated their �independence day�. There was no word from the Union home ministry about the fate of the on-going negotiations.
However, there were unconfirmed reports that the Centre is toying with the idea of appointing two more interlocutors to satisfy the agitated Nagas without changing Ravi. This too could not be independently verified.
Meanwhile, Muivah, who is currently in the National Capital, said: �We are not asking for Naga national flag and constitution from the Government of India. Recognize them or not, we have our own flag and constitution. Flag and constitution are ingredients of our recognized sovereign entity and the symbols of Naga nationhood. The Nagas must keep their flag and constitution.
�We do not say Government of India has rejected the demand for a separate constitution and flag, but let us finalise them at the earliest time. We reiterated our stand stating we see no honourable solution without flag and constitution.
�Military solution is not possible, it is not law-and-order problem of India; the Naga problem is political which calls for a political solution,� he said.
