More Ministers, MLAs rush to Delhi as crisis in Manipur deepens

IMPHAL, June 14 - With the internal crisis in the BJP-led coalition government in Manipur deepening, more Ministers and MLAs have rushed to New Delhi on Friday.

Chief Minister N Biren Singh and Speaker Y Khemchand had gone to the national capital on Thursday.

Sources said that the Chief Minister�s visit to the national capital was related with the discord among MLAs of BJP, the party leading the coalition government in the State, while the Speaker was said to have been summoned by BJP national leaders reportedly to discuss and find a solution to the prevailing internal crisis in the party over power tussle.

Several Ministers including Deputy CM Y Joykumar and Th Bishwajit, who have been divested of Finance, Works and Power portfolios, have dashed to New Delhi on Friday.

The Deputy CM is said to have rushed to New Delhi to meet leaders of NPP, the party he belongs to and discuss the political situation in the State after the CM divested him of Finance portfolio.

Two other Ministers from NPP in the coalition government � Health Minister L Jayentakumar and Tribal Affairs Minister N Kayishii � accompanied the Deputy CM to Delhi.

Some Ministers and MLAs from BJP including Th Bishwajit have also rushed to the national capital.

It can be noted here that disgruntled MLAs of BJP are camping in the national capital and lobbying party national leaders to replace N Biren Singh as Chief Minister.

Social Welfare Minister Nemcha Kipgen and BJP MLAs L Radhakishore and V Balte have also gone to New Delhi.

Chief minister N Biren Singh, who is facing a revolt from his own party MLAs to replace him, had taken over the charges of Finance, Works and Power portfolios from Y Joykumar and Th Bishwajit on Thursday.
