AIZAWL, March 2 - The Mizoram government issued 1,81,007 inner line permits (ILPs) during 2019 to non-tribals entering Mizoram from outside the state, state home minister Lalchamliana informed the state legislature on Monday.

In a written reply to a question from Dr Vanlaltanpuia of the ruling Mizo National Front (MNF), Lalchamliana said that the state government earned over Rs 2.03 crore from issuance of the ILPs.

ILP is mandatory for non-tribal Indian citizens to enter Mizoram and some other northeastern states as provided in the Bengal Eastern Frontier Regulation, 1873.

Replying to another query from independent member Lalchhuanthanga, the home minister said that the state government has been making efforts to detect people belonging to Chakma community who migrated and settled in Mizoram illegally from Bangladesh.

He, however, said that there was no report of detection of foreigners among the Chakma community in Mizoram.
