Mizoram bus mishap kills 2

AIZAWL, Oct 12 - Two persons were killed and 17 others injured when the bus they were travelling in, plunged down a hill near Pukpui village near Lunglei town around 1.30 am today. The bus, carrying 19 people including two drivers, was on its way to Aizawl from Siaha town.

Two persons died on the spot. Preliminary investigation suggested that the bus had a brake failure. Five injured have been admitted to the Christian Hospital at Lunglei. The condition of one of them is stated to be critical.

MLA resigns: Former Mizoram Home Minister R Lalzirliana today tendered his resignation as MLA, almost a month after he resigned from the Lal Thanhawla Cabinet.

Lalzirliana, accompanied by two MNF MLAs, tendered his resignation letter to the Assembly Secretary as the Speaker was absent.

On September 14, Lalzirliana resigned from the Cabinet, a few days after he was served a show cause notice by the Congress disciplinary committee over media reports about his joining the MNF. On September 17, he was expelled from the party.
