Minister visits landslide-hit North Sikkim

GANGTOK, May 28 - Sikkim Minister for Roads and Bridges Samdup Lepcha visited the landslide-affected Bey area of Upper Dzongu in North Sikkim on Wednesday.

He was accompanied by the local MLA of Dzongu and senior government officials. During his visit, he interacted with the people of the affected area.

The minister also spoke to a boy whose parents have gone missing in the landslide and assured him of all possible help and compensation.

He also inspected a kutcha bridge and asked the Irrigation Department to build two or three steel bridges within a month to improve communication facilities in the area.

The minister gave away ex gratia to Nam Tshering Lepcha and Samten Lepcha who have lost their homes in the landslide.
