GUWAHATI, Oct 26 � The Pabindra Nath Sarma Memorial Award for investigative reporting on human rights and the Kunjabala Devi Memorial Award for investigative reporting on women issues for the year 2010 have been awarded to Babul Kumar Baruah of Amguri (Sivasagar) and Rani Pathak Das of Guwahati respectively.
The awards given in the memory of Late Pabindra Nath Sarma, freedom fighter and advocate and his wife carries a cash amount of Rs. 15,000 each and a citation. The winner Babul Kumar Baruah is a correspondent of Dainik Janambhumi, while Rani Pathak Das is a freelance journalist.
The awards will be given away at a function to be held at Bisnu-Nirmala auditorium at Latasil (Uzanbar) on October 29 where Prof. Niru Hazarika will be the chief guest, while Radhika Mohan Bhagawati, Editor, Dainik Asam will preside over the function.
