MASS to send 10,000 postcards to Prez, PM

NORTH LAKHIMPUR, May 21 - Close on the heels of massive public outrage against the proposed Citizenship Amendment Bill, 2016, the Manab Adhikar Sangram Samiti (MASS) of Lakhimpur district has resolved to send 10,000 signed postcards to the President and Prime Minister in an effort to register their collective protest.

For this, the Lakhimpur MASS has set up a desk in the town where hundreds of people are visiting every day to sign the postcards, informed the president of Lakhimpur district unit of MASS Chinu Saikia and its secretary Raju Singh in a press release today.

The postcard signing campaign has been on since May 10 and till date more than 6,000 signatures have been collected, the MASS leaders said. Volunteers are attending to the signature desk round the clock and people from all walks of life are seen participating in the campaign.

The organisers informed that the postcards would be sent to the President and Prime Minister as soon as it reaches the 10,000 mark.
