GUWAHATI, Sept 22 (PTI) - Members of the Manipur women Sepak Takraw team went on a rampage after they were allegedly assaulted by an electrician in their room in the wee hours today, official sources said.
The electrician, identified as Phool Kumar Das, along with another person, entered their room at around 2:30 am, allegedly tried to take their photographs on the mobile phones and even attempted to assault them.
The players, who had come to participate in the ongoing 21st Senior National Sepak Takraw Championship here, beat up Das who was subsequently arrested by security forces.
Later the players went on a rampage damaging the building where they were lodged and even broke the glasses of a police vehicle before sitting on a dharna at the Nehru Stadium's entrance.
