Manipur to relaunch copter service

IMPHAL, July 30 - The Manipur Government will re-launch the �Manipur Helicopter Service� in the State soon. All the formalities including signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Global Vectra Helicorp Ltd has been completed on Tuesday. The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has approved the service connecting Imphal International Airport with Jiribam, Tamenglong and Moreh.

Chief Minister N Biren Singh said that the helicopter service would cater to the critical need for safe, fast and cheap means of transport to the people residing in these remote areas. He also expressed his desire to see the extension of the service to other remote locations in the State through additional number of helicopters.

The BELL 412EP (with 8- 12 seating capacity/less than 15 years VINTAGE) Helicopter will be positioned at Imphal International Airport by August 10. Trial landing will be carried out subject to weather condition in the State.
