Manipur employees stir

IMPHAL, Oct 12 � Projects under Manipur Irrigation and Flood Control (IFC) department has been indefinitely shut down from October 3. On Thursday, staff posted as Plan regular, IFC employees staged a sit-in-protest in front of their office here demanding payment of four months due salary and regular payment of salaries.

Speaking to media persons, AG Athon, of the Plan Regular Employee Committee, said that memoranda have been submitted to the Chief Minister, chief engineer of IFC department and top officials of IFC for clearing the pending salaries and initiating regular payments.

The employees had been observing cease work from October 3 by shutting all projects including three major dam projects � Thoubal Multipurpose Dam, Khuga Dam project and Dolaithabi Dam projects. More than 500 employees are working as Plan regular staff in IFC department.
