Manipur CM interacts with Chandel villagers

IMPHAL, June 7 - Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh interacted with villagers of Khengjoi subdivision of Chandel district bordering Myanmar here today. The interaction programme was organised under the initiative of Col AS Bajpai, Commandant of the 19 Assam Rifles stationed at Khengjoi.

The villagers apprised the Chief Minister of the problems faced by them due to poor connectivity and absence of water supply, electricity and other basic amenities. Village leaders also highlighted the problems they have been facing since the past many years.

Later, the Chief Minister asked the Assam Rifles officers to encourage villagers to plant lemongrass, avocado, banana, etc., instead of poppy. He also stated that the Government is ready to set up banana fibre extracting machines if banana plantation is done in the area.
