Man held for poisoning birds

IMPHAL, Sept 28 - The police today arrested a man in south Manipur for allegedly poisoning around 20 to 30 birds.

According to reports available, Bishnupur Police arrested the man, identified as one Khundrakpam Nabachandra Singh (52), for allegedly poisoning and killing birds at Kwasiphai Maning Leikai in Bishnupur district. It is reported that around 20 to 30 birds, mostly mynas and doves, died due to poisoning by insecticides. Singh told the police that he used the insecticides to protect his field. The police also found bird carcasses hanging on poles to scare other birds.
