JORHAT, Feb 11 - For the promotion of carbon free travel, Root Bridge Foundation � a non-profit organisation for fostering sustainable tourism practices in Northeast � opened Majuli Cycle Caf� at Garamur in Majuli yesterday.
A district administration official said that the caf� consists of a coffee shop, cycle rental place, library, art gallery, village shop and space for art performance. Majuli Deputy Commissioner PG Jha inaugurated the caf�.
The caf� is a state-of-the-art facilitation centre for both host communities and tourists.
The official said that the caf� is a part of Majuli Sustainable Tourism Development Project (MSTDP), an initiative of Assam Tourism Development Corporation (ADTC), in association with Root Bridge Foundation for the promotion of cycle tourism in world�s largest river delta, Majuli.
Different textile products like table runners, table mats and shawls are available in Majuli Cycle Cafe, the official said.
He said that each product consists of a story note so that the customers can understand the history and legends of each community, their handicrafts and life.
The library books in caf� are arranged through crowd sourcing.
