HAFLONG, Dec 12 - Maitree Utsav, 2015, will be held here with a two-day programme from tomorrow, informed the general secretary of the organizers, Pankaj Kumar Deb on Friday.
The Maitree Utsav, 2015 is organised to showcase the rich culture and tradition along with the harmonious and peaceful coexistence of different communities in Dima Hasao district.
The programme will start with the hoisting of the Maitree flag by Juri Phukon, Deputy Commissioner, Dima Hasao and president of the Maitree Utsav, followed by the inauguration of a book fair by Niranjan Hojai, Chief Executive Member, NC Hills Autonomous Council, Haflong.
The inaugural song will be performed by Chitrangada Sangeet Mahavidyalaya, Haflong , while the welcome address will be given by the general secretary of the Maitree Utsav, 2015. A souvenir titled Matree will also be released on the occasion.
A seminar on the topic �On spreading good news about Dima Hasao' would be held in this connection where journalists Samudra Gupta Kashyap, Bijay Sankar Bora, Rahul Karmakar, Arijit Aditya, Bikash Chakraborty, Sanju Bora, Surjya Thaosen, Diganta Das, Samsul Alom, Anup Kr Biswas and others will take part.
On the first evening, local participants will present traditional cultural items, while a performance by the Silchar-based folk band �Dolchut� will be a major attraction. On December 14, Sa Re Ga Ma Li�l Champ fame Anamika Chowdhury will perform after a cultural programme of local artistes.
