Madhav arrives in Agartala

Update: 2010-09-15 00:00 GMT

AGARTALA, Oct 11 - BJP national general secretary Ram Madhav today arrived here on a brief visit to the State. Madhav held a series of meetings with party leaders on organisational issues. However, party sources said he had come to attend the first ever Puja Carnival in the State capital.

The Puja Carnival mass immersion of idols of Goddess Durga is being planned as an annual event to draw tourists to the State.

Sources said that Madhav would not hold any meeting with the BJPs coalition partner, IPFT, which is separately discussing its strategy for ensuing elections to the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC).

BJP working president JP Nadda is also likely to visit the State soon to sort out the differences with the IPFT and review the organisational elections.

Sources said that the IPFT was keen on contesting the TTAADC elections on its own if it did not get due respect in a seat sharing deal with the saffron party.
