Lowang elected Arunachal Speaker

ITANAGAR, Feb 25 - Four-time MLA from Namsang in Tirap district of the State, Wangki Lowang was today elected as the new Speaker of Arunachal Pradesh Assembly.

Lowang was elected to the post by 40 MLAs of the 58-member House by voice vote with Deputy Speaker Tenzing Norbu Thongdok in the chair who did not vote. Seventeen members, including deposed Chief Minister Nabam Tuki and former Speaker Nabam Rebia, did not attend today�s session.

Acknowledging the members� support, Lowang assured them to uphold the dignity of the House as well as Constitution of India. He also sought support and cooperation from all members, including those who were absent today, in smooth conduct of House proceedings in future.
