Litterateur IK Singha�s death condoled

GUWAHATI, March 22 - The Bishnupriya Manipuri society has mourned the recent demise of noted litterateur, dramatist and artist Indra Kumar Singha.

According to a press release issued by Santi Kr Singha of bilingual � Bishnupriya and Assamese � weekly Nua-Dristi, Indra Kumar Singha, a Govt of Assam literary pensioner, was born on November 25, 1932 in undivided Cachar district.

He was a noted dramatist who wrote many plays in the Bishnupriya Manipuri language. He also wrote many short stories and articles in the same language.

The late Singha was also an active social worker. This fetched him quite a few titles from different organisations, the release said, adding that his death has left a void in the Bishnupriya Manipuri society. He leaves behind two sons and four daughters.
