GUWAHATI, Oct 24 - The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) will tomorrow launch its online system for booking un-reserved tickets.

This facility being launched by NFR for the first time, will ensure greater convenience for commuters who will now no longer need to queue up at ticket counters for unreserved ticketing. Passengers will be able to buy paperless unreserved journey tickets, season tickets and platform tickets online by downloading the UTS App in their smart-phones, said Nripen Bhattacharya, PRO of NFR.

He said the UTS App can be downloaded in Android, Windows and iPhone devices. First-time users need to sign up, while existing users can log in directly using their password. One will have to select the station from the dropdown menu and use the link Quick Booking. Passengers can use R-Wallet, Paytm, Mobikwik and Freecharge to buy tickets, said Bhattacharya.

The system can be used for all unreserved tickets. It is intended to facilitate cashless transactions. Season tickets can be renewed ten days in advance. But tickets issued through the UTS App cannot be cancelled. Particulars of the booked ticket will be saved in the smart-phone which can be shown to the travelling ticket examiner, he said.
