SILCHAR, Jan 28 - Hundreds of locals of Lakhipur subdivision of Cachar district joined on Monday to protest against the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016.
Along with the Assam Indigenous Protection Committee members, nearly 700 people representing 32 indigenous organisations with placards in hands matched steps in a rally from Chiripul to Tulengram to voice their opposition to the efforts by the Government to pass the Bill in the Rajya Sabha.
It may be mentioned that a similar protest opposing the Bill was held in the evening at Sonai Road area.
