Lakhimpur win sr I-D cricket title

GUWAHATI, Feb 16 - Lakhimpur emerged champions in the Nuruddin Ahmed Trophy Senior Inter District Cricket Championship (Plate Group) defeating Hailakandi by 51 runs.

On the final day of the three-day final played at the Barsapara stadium here today, Hailakandi, chasing a target of 226 in the second innings were all out for 214. Jitumoni Kalita of Lakhimpur received the man-of-the-match award while his team mate Rudra Pradhan was adjudged the best batsman of the final. Hailakandi�s L Kishan Singha walked away with the best bowler trophy.

In the closing function, Assam Cricket Association president Gautam Roy distributed the trophies.
