KMSS stages rally in city

GUWAHATI, Oct 21 - The Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) today staged a rally at the Lakhidhar Bora Kshetra here in protest against the bid of the Central government to amend the Citizenship Act to facilitate settlement of the post-1971 Hindu Bangladeshi migrants.

The rally was addressed by noted scholar and writer Dr Hiren Gohain, former Cotton College principal Prof Udayaditya Bharali, Tripura People�s Front�s Michel Jamatia, Adivasi Jatiya Shanga�s Biren Mirdha, AJYCP president Udayan Gogoi, Ahom Sabha president Kiran Gogoi, and representatives of the Deuri Jatiya Parishad, Matak Yuba Sanmilani, Tai Ahom Yuva Parishad, CPI-ML (Liberation) and AICCTU, among others.

The participants of the rally resolved to resist any attempts at settling the post-1971 Hindu Bangladeshi migrants in Assam, stated a press release.
