GUWAHATI, Oct 13 - If Khanindra Chandra Das were here, he would have played an active role in formulating a plan on how to stop the anti-Assamese forces, said AASU chief adviser Dr Samujjal Kumar Bhattacharyya during the Khanindra Nath Das Memorial Meet organised by the All Guwahati Students Union and the All Assam Central and Semi-Central Employees Parishad at Swahid Nyas today.

Remembering Das, Dr Bhattacharyya said he was like a guardian for the organisation. Late Das was a guardian for AASU. During the Assam Agitation, he, as a leader of employees union, played a vital role. Because of the active role by union leaders like him, government employees of the State became the main force in the Agitation, he said.

Senior journalist Ajit Kumar Bhuyan added, Today, the Assamese people have nothing to lose and nothing to gain. It is time for a struggle to save our own identity. But in such a critical situation, we have lost a great leader in Khanindra Chandra Das.

Urging all to follow the path shown by late Das, Bhuyan said, Our own government, which was elected a few days ago, is now starting a conspiracy against the interests of the Assamese people. We have to tackle such a conspiracy by any means. Now there is a need of a leader like late Das who always stood by the common people.

Basab Kalita, president of the All Assam Employees Union, said, Das was a force who always pushed us to work for the people of Assam. In this moment, where the scenario of Assam has take a turn against the Assamese people, we should keep in mind the ideology and work of Khanindra Chandra Das to fight for our rights.
